The Media, the Marketing and Teen Alcohol Drug Use

Alcohol is the number one drug among young people today, and is linked to the three leading causes of deaths among young people: motor vehicle crashes, homicide, and suicide. Numerous well documented studies that have found that the more young people are exposed to alcohol advertising, the more likely they are to start drinking.
Dr David Jernigan, a Professor of Health Law, Policy, and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health, and an advisor for the World Heath Organization, is a leading expert on environmental strategies to reduce underage drinking, He is recognized for his action-research approach to the issue of alcohol advertising, marketing, and promotion — and its influence on young people.
